Welcome to Debsan Design Center. If you are looking for window treatments in Natick, MA, you have found the design center in the middle of downtown Natick, where we have been helping people dress their homes since 1947. Our window treatments are Hunter Douglas blinds, shades and shutters, with custom drapery in fabrics from some of the best-known houses in the trade. We measure every window ourselves, install what you order, and offer a free in-home consultation so you can see samples against your own walls and light.
Window treatments are the line that ties a room together. They decide how much daylight comes in, who can see in after dark, how warm a room feels in midwinter and how bright it gets on a summer afternoon. Getting them right is partly a matter of product and partly a matter of fit, and both are what we are here to help with.

Window Treatments for Natick’s Victorians, Two-Families and Capes
Natick is our home town, and its housing changes as you move out from the centre. Close to the common and the downtown streets around the showroom, you find Victorians and two-family houses with tall front windows, porches and bays. Head out in the direction of Lake Cochituate and post-war capes and ranches take over, with very different windows.
Close to the centre
Victorian windows are often tall and narrow, and in a two-family house the front rooms may sit close to the pavement. Privacy during the day, without losing the light, is usually the first request. Light-filtering shades and top-down, bottom-up designs handle both.
Capes and ranches toward the lake
Post-war capes have dormer windows upstairs and a regular set of windows downstairs, while ranches often have a large living room window or a picture window facing the street or the water. A wide picture window is a different job from a narrow sash, and we size and choose for each.
Just come in
With the showroom on your doorstep, there is no need to book ahead. Walk in, bring a photo or a measurement if you have one, and look at samples in person. Prefer a visit at home? The free in-home consultation is always on offer.
What We Carry
Our window treatments come from Hunter Douglas, and we combine them with drapery made from our fabric collections. Each type below suits different windows and different rooms, and many rooms use two together.

Blinds
Blinds give the finest control of daylight. Angle the slats to steer the sun while the blind itself stays down. Natural wood suits painted trim and traditional rooms.

Shades
Fabric shades soften a window, in fabrics that either filter the sun or darken the room. Top-down, bottom-up designs open the top of the glass while the bottom stays covered.

Shutters
Custom shutters are fitted to the window and become part of the room’s architecture. Open the louvres for light and air, or close them for privacy and darkness.

Drapery
Drapery adds colour, pattern and softness, and a lined panel helps with darkness and warmth. Choose from fabrics by Kravet, Schumacher, Thibaut, Sanderson, Clarke & Clarke and others.
Hunter Douglas Window Treatments
Every blind, shade and shutter we sell comes from Hunter Douglas, whose range covers blinds, shades and shutters in a very wide choice of materials, colours and operating systems. If you want to understand the range before you visit, our guide to Hunter Douglas walks through the main types and what each is best at.
What matters most is not the brand name but whether the product suits the window. A south-facing living room needs glare control. A bedroom needs darkness. A bathroom needs something that copes with moisture. A window over a staircase needs something you can operate without a ladder. We start with the room and the window, then narrow down the products that will do the job well.
Light control
Treatments range from sheer to fully room-darkening. Sheer and light-filtering fabrics diffuse sunlight and keep a room bright while cutting glare. Blackout and darkening fabrics stop most daylight, which suits bedrooms and media rooms. Blinds and shutters let you adjust light through the day by tilting slats or louvres.
Privacy
Many treatments let you see out while making it harder to see in during the day, though at night, with lights on inside, most need to be closed for full privacy. Top-down, bottom-up shades are useful for rooms that face the street, because you can keep the lower glass covered and the upper glass open.
Comfort through the seasons
Some shades are built with pockets of air in their structure, which helps a room feel warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Lined drapery adds a further layer. Neither replaces good windows, but both make a noticeable difference in older houses.
Operation and safety
Cordless and motorised operation keep cords out of reach, which matters in rooms used by children and pets. Motorisation also helps with windows that are high, wide or hard to reach, so ask us about motorised options for those windows.
Matching the Treatment to the Window
Natick’s mix of houses means we see almost every kind of window there is. A few come up again and again, and each has its own sensible answers.
Picture windows in ranches
A large fixed pane facing the street or the lake is the focal point of the room. It lets in a lot of light, and a lot of heat in summer. Wide shades that span the glass in one piece, or a pair of shades that meet neatly in the middle, keep the view clean. Drapery on either side frames the window without covering it.
Dormers in capes
Upstairs in a cape, dormer windows sit at the end of a short alcove under a sloping ceiling. There is little room around them, so treatments that fit inside the frame and stack small when raised work best. In a bedroom dormer, a darkening fabric makes a real difference on early summer mornings.
Tall sashes in Victorians
Victorian sashes are often taller than modern windows and set in wide, moulded casings. An inside mount shows the woodwork, while a mount above the casing makes the window look taller still. Full-length drapery suits the height of these rooms.
Front rooms in two-families
When the front room sits close to the pavement, daytime privacy matters as much as evening privacy. Sheer and light-filtering fabrics, or top-down, bottom-up shades, let light in without leaving the room on view.
Doors to the garden or deck
Sliding and hinged glass doors need treatments that move out of the way of the door itself. Vertical options and drapery on a traverse rod are common answers, and we will check how the door opens before suggesting anything.
Looking After Your Window Treatments
Good window treatments last well with a little care. Regular light dusting keeps blinds and shades looking fresh, and many fabrics can be gently vacuumed with a soft brush. Raising and lowering shades fully now and then keeps the mechanism moving freely. When you buy from us, ask how best to care for the particular fabric or finish you have chosen, because the right method varies.
Sooner or later, something may stop working. A cord frays, a shade will not stay where you set it, a slat breaks. Before replacing a treatment you otherwise like, it is worth asking whether it can be fixed. The repair service for blinds and shades is set out on its own page, and repair can be the more sensible choice when the rest of the room is staying as it is.
What to Bring When You Come In
A showroom visit goes further when we can picture the room. None of this is required, but each item helps.
- Photos of the windows, taken from inside the room with the whole window in view, plus one of the room as a whole so we can see the walls, floor and furniture.
- Rough sizes, if you have them. They only need to be approximate at this stage, because we take exact measurements ourselves before anything is ordered.
- Something from the room: a cushion, a fabric offcut, a leftover tin lid with the paint colour on it, or a picture of the rug. Even a favourite piece of clothing in the right shade will do. Colour is much easier to judge against a real object than from memory.
- Which way the windows face. A room that gets the morning sun needs something different from one that takes the full afternoon glare.
- How you use the room. A nursery, a home office with a screen, a guest room used now and then: each points toward a different fabric and a different way of operating the treatment.
If you have none of these to hand, come in anyway. We can talk through the basics and arrange the free in-home consultation to look at the windows properly.
How It Runs, From the Showroom to Installation
Every project follows the same simple path, whether it is one window or a whole house.
Start in the showroom or at home
You can begin by walking into the Natick showroom to look at samples, or by booking a free in-home consultation. Many people do both: a first look in the store, then a visit at home to see the shortlisted samples in their own rooms. There is more on what the home visit involves if you would like the detail.
Talk through each room
We ask how you use each room, which way it faces, what bothers you about it now and what you would like it to feel like. That conversation decides the type of treatment before any colour or fabric is chosen.
See samples in your own light
Colours and fabrics look different under different light, so we bring samples to hold up at the window, against your walls and beside your furniture. You can take your time deciding.
Measure every window
We measure each window ourselves. Older Natick houses often have windows that look alike but measure differently, and frames that are not quite square. We check the depth of the frame for an inside mount and the space around it for an outside mount. Our page on measuring and installation goes into why this step matters so much.
Order
Once you have decided, we place the order to the measured sizes. Each treatment is made for its window.
Install
When the order arrives, we install it. Professional installation means brackets set level and secure and treatments that hang and operate the way they should.
How Window Treatments Fit With Our Other Lines
Debsan is a multi-line design center. Next to the window treatments, the store stocks designer fabric, wallpaper, Benjamin Moore paint and floors, so the whole room can be settled in a single visit. Of the stores the Murphy family runs, which include Blinds & Designs and Window Works, Debsan is the one where every line is under the same roof.
With fabrics and drapery
A shade for daily use and drapery for colour and softness is one of the most common pairings. Choosing them together means the shade colour and the drapery fabric work as one. See custom drapery and fabrics.
With wallpaper
A patterned wallpaper often decides the window treatment, or the other way round. Seeing a wallpaper sample beside a shade or fabric before you order avoids surprises. See our wallpaper page.
With paint
Trim colour and wall colour sit right next to the window treatment. We stock Benjamin Moore, and we can match a shade or blind to the trim or choose a paint colour to suit the fabric. See Benjamin Moore paint.
With flooring
Floors are the largest surface in the room. Hardwood, carpeting and luxury vinyl all change how a window treatment reads, and planning them together keeps the room balanced. See flooring.
Repairs instead of replacement
If you already have treatments that you like but one has stopped working, it may be repairable. See blind and shade repair.
Choosing colour and pattern across a whole room is covered in more depth under paint, wallpaper and window treatments together. If you are wondering what a design center does differently from a general home store, our page on the design center vs big box store question sets out what we do.

A Natick Store Since 1947
Debsan’s story starts in 1947, when Betty and Joseph Greenberg began selling wallpaper and paint in Natick. In 1967 the shop relocated downtown, and in 1972 Ben Greenberg joined the business. Window treatments now sit at the heart of what is sold here. Since 2026 Debsan has belonged to the Murphy family, and Nick Murphy is the one running it.
All those decades in the same town shape how the store works. You come in, handle the samples, compare them side by side and talk them over with us, which is how the store has worked since it opened.
Window Treatments Beyond Natick
We serve 24 towns from the Natick showroom. Each line has its own page for many of them, and the towns closest to us are a good place to start. See window treatments in Wellesley and window treatments in Newton, or find your town on our service areas page. For Natick itself, everything on this page applies, and our Natick page brings all our lines together for the town.
Curious about cost? The custom drapery cost page sets out the things that move the price of made-to-measure work. Every quote depends on the windows, the products and the fabrics you choose, which is one more reason the free consultation comes first.
Common Questions
Is it fine to drop in without booking?
Please do. Browsing the samples in Natick needs no appointment. If a home visit suits you better, request the free consultation on our contact page.
What does the home visit cost?
Nothing at all. There is no charge for the consultation; the samples travel with us and we look over your windows together.
Do you measure and install, or do I do that?
We do both. Our own people take every measurement and fit the treatments once they arrive. Both are included in what we do.
Which brand of window treatments do you carry?
We carry Hunter Douglas blinds, shades and shutters. Our drapery is made from fabrics by houses such as Kravet, Schumacher, Thibaut, Sanderson and Clarke & Clarke.
Can you fit windows in an older Natick house?
Yes. Each treatment is ordered to fit the window it is for, so tall Victorian sashes, bays and frames that are not quite square are all part of normal work for us.
Can I choose window treatments alongside paint and wallpaper?
Yes. We are a multi-line design center, so flooring, paint colours, wallpaper, fabric and the window treatments themselves can all be decided at once, in the showroom or at your house.
