Tell us about your project and we will be in touch to set a time.

Welcome, and thank you for your interest. Our in-home design consultation is free, and it brings the samples and the advice to your house instead of asking you to imagine your windows from a showroom. We are glad to walk you through exactly what happens, so there are no surprises on the day.

The idea is simple. Windows, light and color are hard to judge anywhere but the room itself. A shade that looks soft in a showroom can look very different with afternoon sun behind it, and a fabric that seems right under store lighting can change beside your own floors and walls. A visit lets you make those choices where they will actually live.

How the Visit Runs, Step by Step

Every visit follows the same broad sequence, though we shape it around your rooms and how much of the house you want to look at.

  1. You get in touch. Ask for a visit on our contact page, or phone us from the call button. Mention the rooms on your list and anything you have already settled on. We then arrange a time that suits you.
  2. We look at the rooms together. A dedicated expert walks through the space with you. We look at each window, the way the light comes in, the walls and floors, and how you use the room, whether it is a bedroom that needs to be dark early or a living room where you want to keep the view.
  3. You review samples in your own light. We bring product samples so you can hold them up to the window, see them against your walls and compare cohesive color stories side by side. This is where most decisions get made, because you are seeing the real thing in the real room.
  4. We measure. Measuring is our job, not yours. We measure every window we have talked about, and we note what affects how a treatment fits: the depth of the frame, handles and locks, trim, and anything that sits close to the glass.
  5. We talk through the choices. Before we leave, we go over what you have narrowed down and answer the questions that came up. Pricing follows from those choices and the measurements.

There is no pressure to decide anything on the day. Some people choose everything during the visit. Others want to live with the samples in mind for a while. Both are fine.

What Changes the Visit

No two visits are quite the same. A few things shape what we focus on.

One room or the whole house

A single room is a focused conversation about a few windows. A whole floor or a whole house means looking at how the rooms connect, so the treatments relate to each other from room to room and from the street.

The age and shape of the windows

Older homes often have tall sashes, bay windows, deep casings or openings that are slightly out of square. Newer homes tend to have standard sizes but sometimes large expanses of glass. Each changes which treatments fit well and how they mount.

Light, privacy and the way you use the room

A bedroom, a home office and a sunroom ask for very different things. We ask what bothers you now, such as glare on a screen, morning light waking you up, or a window that faces the neighbors, and we suggest treatments that answer it.

Hard-to-reach windows

Windows above a stairway, behind a deep sofa or high in a vaulted ceiling are where motorized operation comes into the conversation. We look at those during the visit so the options are clear.

Paint, wallpaper and flooring in the same project

If the walls or floors are changing too, tell us when you get in touch. Our showroom stocks those lines alongside the window treatments, and it is easier to plan them together than one after another.

What You Have at the End

Fabric and shade samples laid on a windowsill in natural light

Choices made in your own light

The samples you liked, seen against your own walls and floors, narrowed down to the ones that work in that room.

Measurements taken for you

Each window measured by us, with the details that affect fit noted, so the order is based on the windows you actually have.

A clear next step

Your questions answered and a plan for what comes next, whether that is ordering, a second look, or a visit to the showroom to see more.

After the Visit

If you decide to go ahead, the measurements from the visit are what the order is built on, so the treatments are made for your windows rather than for a standard size. Professional installation is part of our service too, which means the people who planned the treatments with you are the same store that fits them. If a question comes up once you have had time to think, or you want to see one more sample before deciding, just let us know. Changing your mind about a fabric or a color before anything is ordered is part of the process, not a problem.

When the Showroom Is the Better Start

Some projects begin best in our Natick showroom instead of at home. If you want to browse widely before narrowing down, or you are planning paint, wallpaper and flooring at the same time, seeing everything on one table can help. You can also do both: a showroom visit to explore, then an in-home visit to confirm the choices in their own light and get the windows measured.

What to Have Ready

You do not need anything prepared. These make the visit more productive, for the showroom or at home:

  • A list of the rooms and windows you want to cover, even a rough one
  • Anything that is staying in the room and has to be matched, such as a rug, a sofa or a cushion
  • Paint colors, wallpapers or fabrics you have seen and liked, even as photos
  • Notes on what bothers you about the rooms now: too much light, too little privacy, drafts, glare
  • If you are coming to the showroom, photos of the rooms taken in daylight and rough window sizes

If more than one person in the house will be deciding, it helps if everyone can be there for the visit.

Common Questions

Does the visit cost anything?

No. The in-home design consultation is free.

Do you bring samples with you?

Yes. We bring product samples so you can compare them in your own rooms and your own light, which is the main reason to have the visit at home.

Do you measure during the visit?

Yes. We take the sizes of each window we discuss while we are there, so you never have to measure for the order yourself.

Do I have to decide anything during the visit?

No. You can decide on the spot or take time to think it over. The visit is there to help you choose well, not to hurry you.

What if I am not sure what I want yet?

That is a good time to have the visit. Seeing samples at your own windows, with someone who can explain the options, is often what turns a vague idea into a clear choice. You can also learn how we approach measuring and installation before we come.
