Welcome. Debsan Design Center is a window treatment store serving Wellesley, MA from our showroom in downtown Natick, the next town to the west. Our lines run from Hunter Douglas window treatments and custom blinds to designer fabrics for drapery, wallpapers, Benjamin Moore paint and floors of hardwood, carpet or luxury vinyl, and we have been helping people furnish their homes since 1947. If you are planning anything from one bedroom to a whole house, we can bring samples to you for a free in-home consultation, measure every window properly, and install your window treatments when they arrive.

The way Wellesley houses are built makes that kind of help useful. The town’s housing leans toward big, older colonials and shingle-style houses, built with a great many windows. When a house has that many openings, the job is rarely one window. It is a room, or a floor, or the whole place, and the windows sit next to walls and floors that need to work with them.

What We Do for Wellesley’s Colonials and Shingle-Style Homes

An older colonial usually has windows in matched pairs and rows: a run along the front, more on each side, and often a stair window or a window over the front door. A shingle-style house is less regular. It can have deep eaves, wide bays, dormers set into the roof and small windows in odd places. Both kinds of house add up to a high window count, and that changes how a project is best planned.

Many windows, one look

When a single floor has that many windows, the treatments are seen together from the street and from inside. We help you settle on one family of products and colours for the rooms that face each other, then vary it where a room has a different job, such as a bedroom that needs darkening or a sunroom that needs glare control.

Sizing that matches the house

Older frames are rarely perfectly square, and window sizes can change from one room to the next even on the same wall. Every window is measured on its own, which is why we measure in person rather than working from a list of standard sizes.

Walls and floors in the same plan

Because the windows cover so much of each room, the wallpaper, paint and floors around them matter just as much. Debsan is a multi-line store, so one conversation can cover all of it.

Every Line We Run for Wellesley Homes

Each of the lines below has its own Wellesley page with more detail. Start with whichever matters most to you now; nothing stops you adding the others later.

Window treatments

Window treatments are the heart of the store. Hunter Douglas blinds, shades and shutters make up our main window line, measured and installed by us. In a Wellesley colonial, that often means a consistent shade across the front rooms and something heavier, or darker, upstairs. On our window treatments for Wellesley page you can read how we handle the range of window shapes found in the town’s older houses, and the window treatments page covers the whole line.

Custom blinds

Blinds give you fine control over light and privacy: tilt the slats and the room changes without the blind moving at all. Wood blinds suit the painted trim of a traditional colonial, and fabric options soften a room. Because every opening is measured, the blinds are made to fit the window you actually have. See custom blinds for Wellesley, or the main custom blinds page.

Custom drapery and fabrics

Drapery is often where a room comes together. Tall windows in an older house can carry full-length panels that make the ceiling feel higher, and a lined panel can help a bedroom stay dark. Our fabric collections come from names such as Kravet, Schumacher, Thibaut, Sanderson, Morris & Co and Clarke & Clarke, so you can pick a fabric for the drapery and carry it onto cushions and other pieces in the same room. Read more on custom drapery for Wellesley or the custom drapery and fabrics page.

Wallpaper

Wallpaper suits the rooms that shingle-style and colonial houses do well: a front hall, a dining room, a powder room under the stairs. We help you choose from collections including Phillip Jeffries, Schumacher, Thibaut, York and Brewster, and we can put a wallpaper sample next to the fabric and shade you are considering so you see them together. See wallpaper for Wellesley, and our wallpaper page.

Benjamin Moore paint

Paint has been on our shelves since the day in 1947 the Greenbergs first opened their wallpaper and paint shop, and it is still central to what we do. We stock Benjamin Moore and can help you choose colours that sit well with the treatments, fabrics and papers in the room, including the trim colour that ties a house with many windows together. Read about Benjamin Moore paint in Wellesley or see the paint page.

Flooring and carpet

Floors set the base of the room. We carry hardwood, carpeting and luxury vinyl, and we can help you choose a floor at the same time as everything above it. In a larger house that is being redone room by room, choosing the floor early saves second thoughts later. See flooring for Wellesley or our flooring page.

Blind and shade repair

Not everything needs replacing. A blind that will not raise, a cord that has frayed or a shade that has stopped holding its position can sometimes be put right. If you have a lot of windows, repairing the few that have failed can be the sensible choice. Read about blind and shade repair in Wellesley, or see the blind and shade repair page.

Room by Room in a Larger Older House

Big colonials and shingle-style houses tend to share a set of rooms, and each one asks something different of its windows. Thinking about them one at a time makes a whole-house plan much easier to agree.

Front rooms

The living room and dining room are usually the rooms seen from the street, with windows in a formal row. These are the rooms where matching treatments matter most, and where drapery over a shade or blind gives both daytime light control and a finished look in the evening. A wallpaper or a deeper paint colour in a dining room often decides the fabric, so we like to look at both at once.

Bedrooms

Bedrooms are about darkness and privacy. A room-darkening shade, a lined drapery panel, or the two together will keep early light out. Dormer windows in an upstairs bedroom are often small and set deep into the roof, and they need a treatment that fits inside a tight recess.

Sunrooms, porches and bays

Rooms built to catch the sun are lovely until the glare hits a screen or fades a rug. Light-filtering shades soften the light without blocking the view, and a bay can be treated as one piece or window by window.

Stairs and landings

A tall stair window or a window over a landing is often hard to reach. This is where we talk about cordless operation or a motor, and about choosing something that looks right from both floors.

Kitchens and baths

These rooms need treatments that cope with steam and splashes and are easy to wipe. Blinds and certain shades are practical here, and a paint finish that cleans well matters as much as the colour.

Why One Store for the Whole House Helps

When a project covers many rooms, the hard part is rarely choosing one item. It is making many choices that agree with each other. A fabric for the living room drapery has to sit beside the paint colour on the walls, the shade in the next room and the floor underneath all of it. Choosing those from separate places, at separate times, makes it easy to end up with things that are each fine but do not work as a group.

We are the only store in our family of companies that carries every line under one roof. The Murphy family, who bought Debsan in 2026, run Blinds & Designs and Window Works as well, but it is here at Debsan that the paint, papers, fabrics, floors and window treatments share a showroom. That is why it suits a house with many windows and many rooms.

In practice it works like this. You tell us which rooms are in the project and what each one needs to do. We look at the windows and the rooms together, then bring samples that belong together: a shade, a fabric that goes with it, a paint colour for the walls and trim, and if you are changing it, a floor. You can make all the decisions in one sitting, or take the samples and live with them for a while.

We also think about order. In a room that is being painted, papered and given new treatments, the walls usually come first so the installation is not disturbed. We will talk you through a sensible sequence for your project so each trade, or each delivery, arrives at the right time. Not every project has to happen at once. Plenty of whole-house plans are carried out in stages: the main rooms this season, the bedrooms later, the floors when the time is right. If you plan the house as a whole first, each stage fits with the last. Keep a record of what was chosen for each room, and when you come back for the next one the fabric, the shade style and the paint colours are already settled and the new room simply joins the others.

The same thinking helps if you are only replacing what has worn out. A house with many windows rarely wears evenly. The rooms that face the sun fade first, and the blinds that are raised and lowered most often are the ones that fail. We can look at what is still in good order, repair what is worth repairing and replace only what needs it, keeping the look consistent across the house.

What a Free In-Home Consultation Looks Like in Wellesley

Most Wellesley projects start in your home rather than in the store, because the windows are what we need to see. The consultation is free.

Before we arrive

When you first contact us, mention the rooms involved and any ideas you have settled on already, such as darkening in a bedroom or a pattern you have seen. It helps to know whether the walls or floors are changing too.

In the house

We look at each window and how the light falls through the day. We talk about privacy, how you use each room, and how the treatments will be operated. On tall windows or windows over stairs, we talk about what can be reached easily and what may be better on a motor, so ask us about motorised options. We bring samples to hold up against your own walls, trim and furniture, which is the only way to see how a colour or fabric really looks in your light.

Measuring

Every window is measured on its own. In older houses, two windows that look the same can differ, and a frame that has settled may not be square. Careful measuring is what lets a custom product fit properly, and it is part of the service. Our page on measuring and installation explains how we approach it.

After the visit

You leave with a clear picture of the products and fabrics for each room. You can decide straight away or take your time. When your order arrives, we come back to install. If you want the full detail of what happens at the appointment, read what happens at an in-home design consultation.

Getting to the Natick Showroom from Wellesley

Our showroom is in downtown Natick, in Natick Center near the common. Wellesley sits right next door to the east, so the store is a short drive along the main roads that join the two towns.

A visit to the showroom is a good idea if you like to see a wide range before narrowing it down, or if you want to look at several lines side by side. You can hold a fabric beside a wallpaper, look at a shade sample against a paint colour, and see flooring in the same place. Bring a photo of the room, or a cushion, a tile or a paint chip from the house, and we will help you build around it.

There is no need to book before coming in. If you would rather we came to you, a free in-home consultation is the other way to start, and for a house with many windows it is usually the better first step because we can measure while we are there. Opening times and directions are on our contact page, or you can ring us from the call button.

We have been in Natick since 1947. Betty and Joseph Greenberg started the business as a wallpaper and paint store, it moved to its downtown home in 1967, and Ben Greenberg joined in 1972. Today Nick Murphy runs it for the Murphy family. The showroom is where people come to see things in person, and that is how we like to work.

Other Towns Near Wellesley

We serve 24 towns from Natick. Newton is the next town over to the east, and our Newton page covers the lines we run there. Natick itself has its own page at Natick, and every town we work in is listed on our service areas page.

Questions from Wellesley

Do you work in Wellesley?

Yes. We offer free in-home consultations in Wellesley, and our showroom is in neighbouring Natick. Every line we carry is available to Wellesley homes, and each has its own Wellesley page linked above.

Can one consultation cover the whole house?

Yes. In a house with many windows, a whole-house visit is often the simplest way to start. We look at each room, measure the windows and bring samples for the rooms that need to work together. You can then order everything at once or in stages.

Can you help with wallpaper, paint and floors at the same time as the windows?

Yes. We are a multi-line store, so you can choose the flooring, the Benjamin Moore paint, the wallpaper, the drapery fabric and the window treatments in one go. Seeing them side by side is the easiest way to make sure they work as a group.

Will treatments fit windows in an older house that are not quite square?

Each window is measured on its own, so the product is made to the opening you have rather than a standard size. Out-of-square frames are something we look for when we measure, and we will talk you through the best way to mount each treatment.

Which brands do you carry?

For window treatments we carry Hunter Douglas, and for paint, Benjamin Moore. Our fabrics and wallpapers come from names including Kravet, Schumacher, Thibaut, Sanderson, Phillip Jeffries, York and others listed on our fabrics and wallpaper pages. For flooring we carry hardwood, carpeting and luxury vinyl.
